As a teen volunteer at the garden you will have the opportunity to learn the complete cycle of growing food in a true compost to table way. We will be learning and doing everything from prepping beds to planting, seeding, watering, maintenance, worm bin upkeep, composting, and harvesting. With the produce you will then get to cook what was harvested that week in the kitchen. Each volunteer in the garden also gets to take home a share of the harvest.
Whether you have never cooked, gardened or feel confident in your skills, there is a place for you at Positive Community Kitchen. We’ll find the right place for your skill level, and give you the opportunity to learn more.
Teens at PCK are in grade 9 and above, and between the ages of 14 and 19. We ask for a 8 week commitment from all teen volunteers, and we ask that you work at least a 2 hour shift each week.
Because there is a limit to how many people can work at any given time in our new kitchen. If you are not on the schedule, it isn’t possible to just drop in and lend a hand. And, if you’ve committed to a shift, we are counting on you to be there to help get the task done.
We have adult volunteer opportunities in many areas including the kitchen, the garden, the rewarding weekly task of delivery angels, spearheading or supporting fundraising events, joining one of our many committees, soliciting and picking up donated foods. There is a job at PCK that will bring you joy.
